Sagalee CHC in shambles

ITANAGAR, Aug 23: Arunachal Anti-Corruption Sena All Sagalee Branch (AACS-ASB) has expressed concern over sorry state of affairs in terms of poor infrastructure and lack of basic medical facilities at Community Health Centre Sagalee and urged the District Medical Officer (DMO) take action in this regard.

A team of AACS-ASB, which visited the hospital to take stock of the situation and functioning of the hospital, claimed to have found that the hospital has been functioning without proper laboratory and other medical facilities like X-Ray and Ultrasound. Moreover, the hospital building is in a dilapidated condition with broken doors, windows and leaking roof.

The Sena team said that it had lodged a complaint with the hospital authority regarding condition of the hospital but the authority has not yet given any answer.

AACS-ASB demanded the DMO to provide fund for maintenance of the hospital building before it is damaged further and provide X-ray and ultrasound facilities for the benefit of poor and needy patients. It also urged the DMO to instruct the doctors and other medical staff of the hospital to discharge duty sincerely and keep the hospital neat and clean.

Meanwhile, AACS-ASB urged the DMO to extend logistic and other support to conduct awareness programme on Japanese Enchapalitis (JE) at Sagalee town and also urged for carry out mosquito fogging operation in the whole town.

 

Nss advisory committee meeting held

ITANAGAR, Aug 23: Education Minister Tapang Taloh has assured all possible to help to carry out NSS activities in Arunachal Pradesh to fulfill its motto.

Addressing the 10th NSS Advisory Committee Meeting at his chamber here today, the minister stressed the need for organizing awareness campaign in far flung areas to make people aware about various NSS activities and inculcate in young people the desire for social service.

The meeting discussed at length on NSS activities during the year 2013-14 and prepared a road map for the 2014-15 session.  

The Director of Disaster Management suggested for organizing few NSS training programmes coinciding with the awareness generation activities that Directorate of Disaster Management takes up so that NSS volunteers also benefit from the same.   

Earlier in his welcome address, Joint Director of Higher and Technical Education Dr. T. Padu, highlighted the NSS activities and called upon all to work towards instilling volunteerism in young people.

Nakul Chandra Deory, Youth Officer, NSS Regional Centre, Guwajhati also attended the meeting and deliberated upon NSS activities in the state.

 

Socio-academic counseling cum felicitation prog by SEWA

ITANAGAR, Aug 23: Socio-Economic Welfare Association (SEWA) organized its second ‘socio-academic counseling cum felicitation’ programme for class X and XII students of Govt. Higher Secondary School Lathao today.

The resource persons from different disciplines including the Chief Advisor of SEWA dwelt in length on the importance of moral education for students. They advised them to keep themselves away from drugs and study hard to achieve academic excellence.

The Principal of the school appreciated the effort of the association to encourage the students.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Secretary General of the association highlighted the problems being faced by the students due to change of education pattern. He also highlighted some socio-economic problems prevailing in the area.

Nearly 200 students and teaching staff attended the function.

 

Students organization visits Dollungmukh

ITANAGAR, Aug 23: The All Raga Area Students’ Union (ARASU) team led by its president Bei Talin along with president All Kurung Kumey District Students’ Union (AKKDSU) Techi Atunia and convenor, All Lower Subansiri District Students Union (ALSDSU)Maga August visited the eviction spot in Dollungmukh today.

The team met Dollungmukh CO, panchayat leaders, public and owners of damaged paddy field.

The CO informed the team that he has had meetings with three DC’s; Lower Subansiri, Lakhimpur and Papum pare regarding the boundary problem between Assam and Dollungmukh that the trio has decided to maintain peace and tranquility in the boundary.

Meanwhile, ARASU, president has urged the concern DC to immediately deploy police force to Dollungmukh.

 

Blood donation camp

ITANAGAR, Aug 23: A total 31 units of blood were collected during blood donation camp organized under the initiative of Vivekananda Yuva Shakti, Itanagar and the Church Committee of Town Baptist Church, Naharlagun at the Church premises today.

There were an enthusiastic participation from the Church Committee members and its youth brigade. Most of them were the first time donors.

Arunachal Pradesh State Aids Control Society Deputy Director (BTS) Dr. N.Budh and Medical Officer, Blood Bank, Arunachal State Hospital and Dr. P.Sona provided technical support for collection of blood.

A donors’ motivation programme was held prior to collection of blood where Lenin Tungi, Vice chairman, VYS highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation.

The church leaders have shown keen interest on the blood donation programme and assured to conduct more such camps in near future.

Ramesh Jeke, Chairman, Vivekananda Yuva Shakti was also present on the occasion.

 

WSDSCEDS to keep vigil on illegal fishing activity

ITANAGAR, Aug 23: Welcoming the recent order of West Siang Deputy Commissioner banning illegal fishing in Yomgo river, the West Siang District Socio-Culture and Economic Development Society (WSDSCEDS) has appealed to all to abide by the said order to protect the declining fish stocks in the river.

The Society said that illegal fishing in the river by professional fishermen with non-traditional methods has threatened the survival of many endangered fish species.

WSDSCEDS also informed that it will keep strict vigil on illegal fishing activity in the river.

 

AKSU writes to DDSE

ITANAGAR, Aug 23: The All Kimin Students’ Union (AKSU) has urged the education department to visit Middle School, Lower-Jumi under Kakoi Circle.

In its letter written to the DDSE, Papum Pare, it claimed that the school is hardly functioning in the current academic session.

The school is being run by only two teachers since many years, and instead of staying at their allotted quarters, they stay in Assam. They hardly take classes.

It further sought two more teachers for the school.

 

Health camps at Lumdung and Veo

SEPPA, Aug 23: All Pappu Valley Youth Welfare Association organized free health camp at Lumdung and Veo village of East Kameng district on August 20 and 21. The objective of the health camp was to make the people of Pappu Valley aware of the JE.

A team of doctors led by Dr Gedo Kamchi, MO and Dr. Lito Ete, MD offered treatment to 208 persons at Veo and 143 persons at Lumdung.

Meanwhile, the Association lauded the team of doctors for making the camps grand success and hoped similar medical support in future too.

 

Toppers felicitated

ITANAGAR, Aug 23: All East Kameng Capital Complex Students Welfare Association on Friday felicitated its meritorious students who topped in their respective department from the district in a small but impressive felicitation programme held at city hotel here.

The meritorious students  felicitated were Nau Richo (64.3 percent), Jyoti Mangkya(57.8 percent), BA,  Education Hons), Sagar Sangdo (63.1 percent)   B.Sc (Physics Hons), Yaping Yangfo (B.Com Hons) with 57.8 percent from Dera Natung Government College and Jango Sonam BA English Hons with 55.8 percent from Don Bosco College Jollang Itanagar.

 All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) General Secretary Nyanya Gollo while congratulating the students suggested them to make the entire district proud in academic field.  NESO Coordinator Pritam Sonam and AAPSU Information and Publicity Secretary Lota Singhi also encouraged the students.

Make NERIST the symbol of peace & unity: CM

ITANAGAR, Aug 23: “Make NERIST the symbol of peace and unity and set an example for others to emulate”, exhorted Chief Minister Nabam Tuki while addressing the faculty and students of North East Regional Institute for Science & Technology here at Nirjuli today.

Without actually mentioning about the internal problem the institute has been facing for quite a while, Tuki said that NERIST is pride of Arunachal Pradesh and it should be maintained so in any cost. The standoff whatsoever between the management and the faculty should be amicably sorted out without resorting to means that would show this institute of learning of the highest degree in poor light to the world, Tuki emphatically said.

While appreciating the premier institution for producing excellent technical manpower for last two decades, the CM opined for taking expert support and assistance from NERIST for preparation of projects pertaining to state and national importance.

“We are in the era of advanced technology and scientific approach towards any project is need of the hour” Tuki said and requested the NERIST to extend all possible help to the state whenever sought for.

He was in the NERIST campus to inaugurate two very important projects namely a new well built 200-capacity girls’ hostel which is named “Subansiri” and a hostel for Continuing Education Programme, named “Brahmaputra”.

The new girls’ hostel has single rooms and some shared accommodations with mess and dining facilities. The Director of the Institute, Prof. Dipankar Pal, informed that it took about 30 months to complete the construction. Proposal is on for a badminton court, a basketball court and a multi-gym that would soon be added for the girls to avail sporting facilities after 7 p.m. without having to move out. With this the acute shortage of accommodation in the Institute would end finally. The hostel for Continuing Education Programme also was a most sought and genuine need which is now been fulfilled. This would now facilitate short term courses for senior students.

Among others, Parliamentary Secretary, UD and Land Management Techi Kaso, DC capital Mige Kamki, Councilor Tarh Nachung, SP Nabam Gungte and other officers were present on the occasion.

 

 

Felix urges Centre for financial help to state film makers

NEW DELHI, Aug 23: IPR & Education Parliamentary Secretary Bamang Felix who attended the three-day North East Film Festival  here termed the initiative of the I &B Ministry splendid. Such initiative, he said, would go a long way in encouraging budding talents of Northeast filmmakers. Felix was representing the state on behalf of state Chief Minister Nabam Tuki at the Film festival which began at Siri Fort Auditorium-I here on Friday.

Organized by the directorate of film festivals, ministry of information and broadcasting in coordination with north east division (HM) and NElim and ministry of culture, the three-day event titled Fragrances from the North East will be screening nine films, including seven feature and two non-feature films.

The lush green forests, the lofty mountains, the snow clad peaks, the roaring serpentine rivers and the mesmerizing scenery speaks volume about the potential of Arunachal perfectly fitting the frame of film makers, he said, adding that the state government has taken many steps to promote film making, including Arunachal State Film Festival as an annual event for last two years while the union I&B ministry recently proposed to set up a Film & Television Institute in our state at par with the Film & Television Institute of India, Pune and the Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute, Kolkata. This would serve as a boon for the growth of film industry in the North East, Arunachal Pradesh in particular, he said and urged the ministry to evolve a mechanism for a Film Finance Scheme to assist film makers of the state.

While speaking to the union minister of information and broadcasting Prakash Javadekar after the programme, Felix conveyed his gratitude to the union ministry for choosing Arunachal Pradesh for setting up of Film and Television Institute. He briefed Javadekar on the potential of film industry in the state and various other issues pertaining to IPR in the state. He also invited the Union Minister to visit Arunachal Pradesh on behalf of the State Chief Minister and State Government. Felix was accompanied by Director IPR CM Longphong, according to an official release.

 

 

Siang flows above danger mark, authority prepared to tackle situation

PASIGHAT, Aug 23: With the mighty Siang flowing above the danger mark due to torrential rains, several pockets of Pasighat are battling with a flood-like situation with low-lying areas such as Sibokorong-Siang confluence point, Komlighat and Raneghat getting inundated.

East Siang Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Srivastava and the officers of WRD, Disaster Management etc are constantly monitoring the situation.

Meanwhile, the DC while appealing all not to panic and give no heed to the rumors mongers, instructed all the officers to be prepared for any eventuality. She informed that the authority is fully prepared and if necessary Town Club has been identified as probable relief camp/ temporary shelter.

Official sources informed that Pangin-Pasighat (PP), Pasighat-Mariyang (PM), Mebo-Dhola (MD) and Pasighat-Ledum-Tene-Koyu (PLTK) roads remains cut off.

Meanwhile, Member of Parliament Ninong Ering and local MLA Kaling Moyong have appealed the people residing in low-lying areas adjacent to the river to be careful, and closely monitor on every development. Duo further cautioned people against boating or fishing in the river. DIPRO

 

 

Late night patrolling intensified, 3 arrested  

ITANAGAR, Aug 23: The Itanagar Capital Complex District Administration along with City Police has intensified late night raid and patrolling within the Capital Complex in order to check the crimes being committed during night hours.

Meanwhile, a patrolling party led by Nangram Pingkap, Circle Officer-cum-Town Magistrate conducted late night raid at Naharlagun and Nirjuli and seized huge quantities of liquors from different sectors of the towns. The party also found a couple of Gumties selling wine, beer, whiskey without possessing valid licence. Three persons were arrested in connection with this illegal business.

Further, the Town Magistrate along with Police personnel raided the pools and snooker establishment of the town and directed the licensees to adhere to the permissible time and not to allow consumption of any kind of alcohol in their business premises. Meanwhile, under the guidance and supervision of Capital DC Mige Kamki, the seized liquors were auctioned out by a board comprising of the Administrative and Police Officers and the money collected from the auction was handed over to destitute Home/ Orphanage of Naharlagun Mother Teresa’s Sister and Oju Mission Naharlagun, according to an official release.

 

 

East Kameng DLMC meeting held

SEPPA, Aug 23: The 13th District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) meeting was held at Kameng Hall here yesterday for monitoring the physical and financial achievements of the various projects under SPA, NLCPR, PM package, BADP, MSDP etc executed by various departments. The meeting also reviewed action taken report on the issues related to 12th DLMC meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, EE PHED, while pointing out the Supreme Court order for water supply connection to every Anganwadi centers, requested the ICDS department to furnish details list of Anganwadi centers and its water supply status.

EE Electrical informed that the infrastructures created under RGVK  which got  damage during road constructions under PMSY, needs to be taken care and carried out after re-alignment were done.

DC Sandeep Kumar Singh directed the executing agencies of various projects in the district for proper and equality implementation of projects as per DPR. He also reiterated the need of  submission of photographs and utilization certificate of the works done.

Taking note of the complaints on few schemes executed by RWD under Bameng sub-division, he directed the EE RWD to submit report with photographs immediately. He said that if the complaints were found to be true and projects were not implemented as per scope of the works, action shall be initiated against the executing agencies. He also urged the HoDs for prompt reply of the application on RTI. However, he cautioned that no one should make false complaints which deterred the development process.

It was also made mandatory for executing agency to deposit 12.5% of the building cost for internal electrification & 4 % internal water supply connection to electrical PHED deptts. DIPRO

 

 

Seminar on unemployment in India held

ZIRO, Aug 23: The Department of Economics of Hill Queen Education Institute (HQEI), Ziro organized a seminar on ‘Unemployment in India’ at the Institute auditorium here today.

Mithi Perme, Senior Teacher of Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Ziro chaired the seminar as the resource person.

Three students of the school presented papers on different topics related to unemployment problem in India.

Hibu Monya, Class XII (Hum.) presented paper on ‘Meaning and Concept’ while Gora Nani Class XII (Hum.) on ‘Magnitude and Aspects’ and Lod Sumi Class XI (Hum.) on ‘Causes and Employment Generation Programmes.’

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation of all the students of the Institute. They threw a volley of questions on the key topics which were answered by the resource persons. The seminar also held in-depth discussion on unemployment problem and their remedies.
